Transparency and Sustainability

DECORTECH Arena | Hall B5-D5

Glass, a fundamental element in 21st-century architecture and design, represents protection, transparency, and sustainability. Used across different areas of design, it offers the opportunity to play with transparency without altering its main physical and mechanical properties.

The discussion features:

  • Vincenzo Maria Sglavo, Professor, Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Trento

The Invisible Sustainable: Playing with Light Without Altering Matter. Glass represents the perfect paradox of contemporary architecture: a physical barrier for protection that must remain visually invisible.

  • Claudio Zanchetta, Italy Area Manager, Forel Spa
  • Paolo Bartoli, Operations Manager, Vetreria Valmarecchia
  • Giacomo Venturini, CEO & Development Manager, Vetreria Valmarecchia

Growing Together: When Technological Innovation Becomes a Sustainable Choice.

For fifty years, Forel Spa has been driving innovation in the flat glass industry, developing technologies designed to anticipate market needs. This approach is clearly reflected in the story of Vetreria Valmarecchia, a company based in Verucchio (RN) that has been producing glass solutions for the building and furniture sectors for over thirty-five years, growing steadily thanks to Forel’s continuous technological support. The presentation is built around two key themes: transparency, understood as certified processes and verifiable quality at every stage of production; and sustainability, achieved through the adoption of high-performance insulating glass solutions that improve energy efficiency and address the challenges of building renovation and redevelopment. Through a direct dialogue between supplier and customer, this case study will highlight how shared technological choices over the years have combined industrial growth, quality and environmental responsibility, demonstrating that transparency and sustainability are not just values, but everyday practices built together, step by step.
