Wood, the natural material par excellence, renewable and recyclable, meets research, technology, and the human sense of aesthetics and functionality through decorative elements, colors, shapes, and applied technologies.
The discussion features:
- Flavio Borghesi, Marketing Manager, TABU
Wood and color: chromatic plays that meet the shapes of wood give life to surfaces with kaleidoscopic effects, making them unique.
- Monica Scioni, CEO OT-LAS
OT-LAS has been developing CO₂ laser systems for decorative and functional material processing for over 40 years. Surface engraving, deep engraving, carving, cutting, and micro-perforation are just some examples of the effects that can be achieved with outstanding versatility, precision, and speed, while ensuring low operating and maintenance costs, all within a sustainable manufacturing approach.
- Evgeny Borovin, R&D Engineer, XLAM Dolomiti
Supertimber: as light as wood, as strong as steel — a new balance that until yesterday seemed difficult to achieve and that today opens completely new possibilities. The strength and flexibility of the wood of the future.
- Giorgia Zanelli, Product Manager, Finishing, SCM Group
Laser Design, Supermatt & Silk Effect: Striking Graphics and Tactile Innovation for Modern Design Surfaces
In the design and architecture market, visual and sensory excellence is often the result of a synergy between advanced technologies. This presentation showcases an innovative surface enhancement system for wood-based and mineral materials, such as fibre cement, based on the combined action of laser technology and special UV systems. This technology redefines finishing standards by offering unique aesthetic customization together with outstanding sensory performance. The laser is used as a precision tool to engrave customized patterns, textures, and geometries directly onto the surface. A subsequent application of a special coating, activated through specific UV treatments, generates a micro-structured surface that delivers an ultra-matt finish (ultra-low gloss) and a remarkably silky soft-touch feel. The result is a final product with strong decorative appeal and an exceptionally smooth tactile experience, making it ideal for enhancing the added value of modern cladding solutions and furniture components.
